What started 100 years ago as a regional publishing house in Bregenz, is today regarded as the most progressive multi-niche media company in Europe. Daily and weekly newspapers, numerous online portals, printing, logistics, radio and IT services are all under one roof at the main location in Schwarzach. Internationally, we focus especially on online marketplaces and service technologies. As a group, we currently have 1,000 employees working at 14 locations throughout Europe.
Our regional core competencies include the development, implementation and marketing of media and media-related services. The focus on the segments of a market which have been clearly defined both regionally and thematically has made us successful. In all activities, the needs of our readers and customers take centre stage.
As a result, Russmedia also has a number of top achievements: 9 out of 10 people in Vorarlberg get their information daily from Russmedia (a record in Austria), two daily newspapers and six weekly newspapers are produced, we operate over 40 online portals and our apps are visited more than 40 million times a month. VOLmobil was the first regional mobile communications provider in Austria, the WANN & WO newspaper reaches more readers in the target group of 14 to 19-year-olds than any other print medium. In addition, VOL.AT is, in relation to the population, the most visited regional portal in Europe. The homepage alone is accessed 550,000 times a day.
The growth-oriented digital business will continue to be fueled by Russmedia International AG, headquartered in Schaan. The group has offices at the digital hotspots in Vienna and Berlin and is investing 100 million euros to further increase its business.
Participations such as Europe’s largest independent ski rental Alpinresorts (Bratislava and Vienna), Europe’s largest rental portal Erento (Berlin), the German classifieds portal Quoka.de, the Hungarian job portal CVOnline.hu and the classified ad portal Publi24.ro are assigned to the Russmedia Digital Holding. The focus is on digital growth: Marketing & adversing activities are clustered at the Digital Holding in order to significantly increase the commitment to digital marketplaces and to grow internationally.
Together with Speedinvest, Europe’s successful early-stage venture fund, Russmedia has launched a special fund focused on international marketplaces.
Employees cast their votes, resulting in Russmedia receiving the award of second best employer in Austria (Great Place to Work, Category 500+ employees). There was a special prize for “lifelong learning”: more than 50 free training courses are offered in the internal Russmedia Academy. Editors and media sales reps are being trained in cross-media trainee programs.
Infotainment in the truest sense: by means of the intranet, internal newsletters and regular events (Russmedia Inside, team events such as pizza meetings, breakfast with the management, quarterly meetings, etc.), all employees are kept informed about new activities, achievements, investments and strategic measures, and feedback and employee queries are conducted. Ready for the corporate ladder? New and young employees will also have the opportunity to take on more responsibility and demonstrate leadership qualities. Internships at other locations are possible, as well. For us, flexible time management or trust-based working time is considered Standard.
Our workplaces are based on international examples with modern working environments: open plan offices, various conference and communication points ranging from shingle design to graffiti walls, lounge corners, a Starbucks café, a pond with garden lounge and much more.
